The Tough Mudder obstacle course race July 23 at Devil's Head, Merrimac, Wisconsin. I was working first aid; between calls I got a couple of pictures snapped.
I thought this sign was just hilarious. Turns out it was just good foreshadowing.
Obstacle 23, where I was stationed, looked pretty peaceful before 6500 people tromped through it.
Early in the day it was pretty obvious where the holes were.
The leaders made it through in an incredible hour and a half.
Reports are the water was pretty cold.
Ohhh, THAT hole!
Getting their feet under them again.
Comrades in arms, as it were.
Ahh, you were hot anyway.
As the day went on, it was less single warriors and more of a line.
DHSP's own Victor Liamachka, in the red.
Amazing how many people still had their sense of humor after right miles of unremitting punishment.
Later in the day. The sun became downright brutal.
Saw a lot of GoPro cameras. Only one of the guy on the left, though.
Victor again. Pretty tough guy.
Hey, I found the hole!
Frozen Nip Syndrome.
Over the course of the day, a wetland got tromped into a lake.
