M106 and NGC 4248
First successful image through the "galaxy cannon", the new-to-me Astro-Tech 8" RC. First time back in Blue Mound after the long cold cloudy winter; shout-out to Alex whose pleasant company let me monolog about astro for, erm, quite some time.
And to PJ, who came out to keep me company while I got a second night of data.
M106 is a spiral about 25 million light years away. This image is about 30 arcminutes wide.
53 x 120" frames with the Pentax K-5iis, no darks but flats and dark flats. Second night, 55 minutes of luminance and about 15 each of R, G, and B.
