This galaxy "near" the Milky Way is a favorite of beginning astrophotographers -- it's six times the size of the full Moon, and fairly bright -- as well as experts, since there is an incredible amount of tonal range, detail, and color that can be captured. 500mm f/8 mirror lens, 19 124-second exposures stacked in Photoshop.
