M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy

Shot in an evening at Blue Mound State Park, this was my first try at RGB imaging, where you shoot the target with a monochrome camera successively with red, blue, and green filters, process the resulting stacks, and composite them to form a full-color image. This is my second or third try at processing these data, I used Astro Pixel Processor and am very pleased with the result. M51 is actually too small for my current imaging setup, so I had to crop a small area of the image, magnifying all the problems along with the galaxy.
